St. John de Britto was a native of Lisbon, Portugal, who became a missionary to Indian nobles.  The great men of India were not interested in converting from Hinduism.  John won their trust by dressing as they did and acting respectfully towards them.  Thus he was able to teach them about Christianity and lead them to faith in Jesus.  By his genuine meekness and friendship, John converted many.
